Situated on a plateau overlooking the Alps, the house is located in Ludiano, a small settlement in the Blenio Valley. The architecture has been defined by the features of the site: the waterfall that flows a few meters away, the imposing boulders (sprüg), the woods near the plot, the topography and the orientation.
The building is perpendicular to the valley and stands on a slight crest of the terrain. The stone clads the primary elements of the building, the fireplace in the centre, around which the spaces are organized, and the four blocks on which the roof is supported. These elements form the structure and soul of the building, they were the first built and form the imaginary ruins of the building.
The secondary system consists of the light wooden construction and the large openings. Stone and wood, permanence and warmth, define the character of living and put the house in relation to the alpine context.
The wide slopes of the roof open up towards the imposing mountains and the valley that crosses the space. The same roof slopes provide shelter and carry rainwater to the spouts at the ends of the house, occasionally forming a slight waterfall.
